Spring break and a visit from Grandpa Dave

Our Spring break has come to an end and I already miss it.
I had good intentions of keeping ourselves busy with a fun little bucket list but we were only to complete 1 of the 8 tasks.

*Family Picnic

*Pick fresh flowers
*Send a friend a postcard

*Go to the pool

*Make bird feeders

*Go on a nature scavenger hunt

*Write a short story about Spring Break

We enjoyed a nice picnic with a some of our Northwood friends at Reaney park. We all tried some dragon fruit which was new for most of us. The kids got to play and we found out that Jason gets sick if he plays on the tire swing (last time he threw up!).

We searched all over for postcards, between Matt and I we looked at 6 or 7 different stores! By the end of the week he finally found us some at his school's book store. So maybe this week we'll get to check that one off our list!

The you pick flower stand we went to last year isn't open yet so we'll just have to pick some dandelions in the back yard. I am sure that will still be fun for the kids but I was really looking forward to having some fresh pretty flowers in the house.

Even though we didn't make it to all the scheduled activities we still kept busy and had fun. We got to play outside pretty much everyday this last week. We all got plenty of sun!

Jason got a new bike with pedals! He loves it and asks to ride everyday. It's Spiderman of course!

Friday as we were preparing for the weekend and a visit from grandpa Dave we ended up with a bit of an emergency situation. Tucker swallowed a giant birthday sequin sometime ago, a week maybe. It was trying to come out but stuck in his little bottom. He was in so much pain. He was so scared and wouldn't leave my side. I took him to the ER here but they couldn't help us so they sent us to the Children's hospital in Spokane. We saw the Doctors there where they were able to remove the item without sedation like we were told would be necessary. I was, am, so relieved! I was really really scared about them putting him under. He is all better now and back to his happy smiley self thank goodness!! I am so thankful and even more appreciative of God's hand in our lives. I was pretty terrified there for a bit!

Grandpa Dave arrived Saturday evening. We went out for dinner and then a walk before bed. Sunday the guys fixed our screen door, played with the quadcopter and flew kites with the kids. The kids LOVE having Grandpa Dave here and mom and dad really enjoy these visits too. It's nice to have another adult around to catch up with, someone to play and love on the kids. So glad he got to come visit before he headed up to Spokane for the week!

Kind of a busy week but somehow it felt nice and relaxing. I really enjoyed my time with the kids and I definitely enjoyed not having to be in the car for an hour and half everyday driving them to and from school. It makes me a little sad that this is our last year before the kids really start school full time. I am going to miss having so much time with them everyday.

Snuggling with my little guy. When he's not feeling good he just wants to be within arms reach of mommy.

The dragon fruit Ava found at the store this week. We were not impressed. Not much flavor and VERY expensive!

A kid told Jason that earwigs will crawl in ears and make a home...
So Jason walked around like this for about 20 minutes or more until I assured him that this is simply not true. Before he really believed me he started panicking because Tucker was on the blanket and his ears were in immediate danger of becoming an earwig dwelling. He was trying to figure out how he could cover both his and Tucker's ears with his two hands. He is so considerate, especially when it comes to his baby brother.

With all the time Ava spent playing outside in the sun and in the water she worked up quite the appetite. This spaghetti face was made by consuming 3 servings of spaghetti (including Jason's), a cheese stick, greek yogurt and the bottom remnants of some life cereal. After all the she was still begging for more food! Believe me, this girl can eat!

Before taking him the ER here in Pullman. Poor guy was soooo uncomfortable.

The item he swallowed but the size of a small coin. Once they got it out his whole demeanor changed. He started smiling at everyone and playing with the pulse ox cord or anything he could get a hold of. He was wide awake and happy as a clam even though we had been in the hospital and car for about 8 hours and it was nearly midnight!

Going for a nice walk with Grandma Dave

Getting some work done!

Flying their little dollar kites. They worked really well too!

Grandpa going after Jason's runaway kite

Reading bedtime stories. Both Ava and Jason got to read to Grandpa. They love the Bob books!

Till next time!
